Connections

Why get Connected?
At College Place, church is not a spectator sport! God wants to turn an audience into an army. A disciple of Jesus is one who is recruited, connected, nurtured, and sent out into the world to be a servant and a witness for Jesus Christ. We want to help you do that. After you visit our church, we hope this website will aid you in connecting to the ministries we offer so you can be connected to the life together of God’s people.
We worship together, support one another, learn together, and serve together. Nurturing happens as we encourage one another, share our needs and victories, and stay accountable to one another. We want to help you serve by helping you identify and use the spiritual gifts with which God has equipped you for ministry. Being a witness then happens naturally as we simply tell people how our spiritual lives have changed as a result of our worshiping here, growing here, connecting here, and serving Jesus Christ in our church, community, and world.
Joining the Family
How does one get recruited and connected? The answer is by joining our church. People join the Body of Christ here at College Place by being baptized, by making their profession of faith in Jesus Christ, and by committing to support the church with their prayers, presence, gifts, and service.
Baptism is a beautiful experience, but if you have been baptized before, we accept your baptism, and do not ask you to repeat it. We love helping people make their first-time public profession of faith. We pose historic questions, so that when you say “yes” you are saying “yes” to what Christ offers, and you are not just embracing your own faith, you are embracing the faith of God’s people. If you have already done that before, you do not have to repeat that (unless you want to as a rededication of yourself to Jesus Christ). If you have been baptized and made your profession of faith previously, we introduce you to the congregation, you take the vows of membership (prayer, presence, gifts, and service), and we simply transfer your membership from your former church to this church. To join us, please contact Pastor Rob Grotheer at 912-265-4883 or at rgrotheer@bellsouth.net.
Getting to Know People
A part of getting connected is getting to know people. We furnish name tags so that you can get to know people who worship with you. Attend our Wednesday night Church Family Suppers, which are usually the second Wednesday of the month at 6:00 PM. Attend a Sunday School class at 10:00 AM between the 8:45 and 11:00 AM services. Check the bulletins and newsletters for more information about the life and ministry of the church, or you can check us out on Facebook for information about upcoming events. There are lots of opportunities for you to get connected.
