A Community of Love & Faith

Communications Team

In the Great Commission, Jesus tells His followers to spread the good news of salvation to all nations. Basically, He tells them to communicate. To spread God's Word, we must communicate, using all forms available.

At College Place, the Communications Team uses text, audio, video, visual and electronic messages. We create weekly newspaper advertisements, manage the website, create visual presentations for the Experience worship service, generate  logos (below), brochures, banners (left), fliers, newsletters and special publications, and work with the rest of the church's teams and staff to help them get their word out.

Right now, we're focusing on this website, trying to make it dynamic so visitors always see something new and can interact. We're creating forms so people can submit their favorite scriptures and linking to sources for daily devotionals. We post a poll question on the About CPUMC page every week, so we can listen to what members and others say. And we have begun uploading audio excerpts from worship services. We also maintain a fan page on Facebook (College Place United Methodist Church) and post "Tweets" on Twitter (@College_Place).

We have started putting together a video team to generate clips for the web and background visuals for the contemporary service, but also to capture special events and mission work to show the congregation. Our video team will hopefully develop new and imaginative content in the form of dramatic presentations and message-oriented footage for the church and community.

Currently, the communications coordinator is Chris Woodward. We're looking for volunteers with graphic design, web design and digital-imaging skills (knowledge of html or software such as Photoshop, InDesign or Quark,  MediaShout, Premiere) and interests in digital photography and videography. Come be a part of this exciting, growing team! Email Chris at chrisdwoodward@yahoo.com.
