Angel Food Distribution Day Recap
Do not forget to entertain strangers, for by so doing some people have entertained angels without knowing it.  Hebrews 13:2

We knew two days in advance that we’d have no fork lift for Distribution Day.  So, about dozen hearty volunteers at 4:00 am gathered at the back of the Angel Food truck, prayed with driver Jeff Hughes, broke the security seal and got to work. Three guys lifted the yellow Popell-Eller pallet jack to a displaced fork lift driver Dave Latner and mighty man Fred Haynes inside the trailer, while the others including muscleman Joe Augeri formed a navy line to the sidewalk where carts and dolly’s said hello.  One hundred seventy four boxes were unloaded by hand in twenty one minutes.  Whatta Team!

Meanwhile, our crack volunteers diligently inspected every carton for broken eggs and replaced as needed.  Others conducted quality assurance checks on the fruit and veggie boxes. We missed guide Kathy Marshal (The Chapel) who had the day off resting from outpatient surgery.  We were blessed to have Darien residents Donna Miller and twin sons Alex and Brandon volunteer on the assembly line and help customers get their orders to their cars.  They joined other regulars in doing an outstanding job and making our Distribution Day a huge success!
