About College Place UMC
The mission of The United Methodist Church is to make disciples of Jesus Christ for the transformation of the world.
The United Methodist Church is a global denomination that opens hearts, opens minds and opens doors through active engagement with our world.
College Place UMC is a community of love and faith, training and nurturing disciples of Jesus Christ, equipping them with God’s Word, and spreading His redeeming love to every soul in need.
College Place United Methodist Church was “born” on July 1962, after McKendree UMC on Norwich Street voted to relocate to a new location at Altama Avenue in Brunswick, Georgia. Services began at a building on the site on October 14 of that year.
College Place broke ground for a portion of its current facility on February 10, 1963. By mid-August, services began — led by the Reverend Sam Rogers.
In the 50-plus years since, College Place has expanded to hold a congregation of more than 750 and has added classrooms, a Christian Life Center meeting facility (2003), an expanded Youth Activity Building, a front parking lot, a digital sign to visually reach out to the surrounding community and most recently a Veteran’s Memorial Park.
